When I asked God for a encouraging word for Ladies, He immediately replied and said:
“If you were Moses’ Mom, would you have put your child on the water?”
My immediate response was “Yes of course I would”.
God just said: “and if you had not read the end of the story, would you still feel the same about putting your child on the water.”
Considering the circumstances: Moses was 3 months old; alone in a basket; with crocodiles; Pharaoh had commanded all the Israelite boy babies to be thrown into the river, so any Egyptian finding him would do just that.
And my answer was no.
Moses’ mom faced these very relevant challenges we have just considered, and she decided to act on God’s word. God did not tell her that Moses was going to lead the Israelites out of Egypt
If you look at the God’s purpose for a woman, you will find it in:
Gen 2:20b But for Adam there was not found an HELP MEET for him. (KJV)
HELP - to surround, protect or aid, help,
MEET - a front, i.e. part opposite; counterpart, or mate; stand boldly out opposite; to manifest; to announce, to expose, predict, explain, praise.
1 Cor 11:7 … man …… is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.
Now in the context of the scripture in Corinthians, I would like to run thru the list again. We all know the individual meaning of the words, but I want u to consider each one as I want you to actually grasp what God’s plan for a woman is, because I am going to refer back to this list a little later.
HELP
Surround – invest, enclose, fence in, encompass, encircle
Protect – keep safe, defend, guard against danger
Help – to be of use, provide with means towards what is needed or sought.
MEET
Counterpart – person forming a natural complement to our Adam
Manifest – show plainly, evidence of; prove; display; reveal itself
Announce – make publicly known
Expose – exhibit, display, orderly statement of facts, revealing.
Predict – foretell, prophesy
Explain – make known in detail, say as explanation
Praise – commend the merits of, glorify
Back to Moses story:
The Bible just mentions 1 very important fact about Moses’ father, not even his name is mentioned:
Exod 2:1 And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi.
The Levites were God’s priest, they knew God’s word, they knew His miracles, they knew His provision. So in the light of what the Bible teaches about a woman’s purpose, how does that reflect on Moses’ father? He was a man who feared God, knew God’s commandments and taught it to his wife and to his family, even in a foreign land.
Exod 2:2 So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months.
Moses was the 3rd known recorded child in his family; Aaron and Miriam were already mentioned. What made Moses mom realize this child was different to her other children? One of the meanings of the word Beautiful in this sentence means favored. Moses’ Mom realized he carried God’s favor from birth. The parents obviously spoke about it, and made sure that they had heard God’s voice before they put their son on the river.
You don’t wake up one day and say it is a good day to put my child on the river. And when his father comes home, you casually mention, your baby is gone, I made a basket and put him on the river. I am not quite sure where he is now.
Those parents must have anguished for a very long time about what they could do to save their son.
Often God asks us to do something for Him and He does not give us anything more than the request. Our response is usually “God asked me to do this, but the request is so ridiculous, that it can’t be God (who would put a 3 month old baby in a basket on a river with crocodiles and leave it). So we decide that it is actually more logical not to obey. But God never reveals the full details of His plan, so that means we always functioning on a limited basis with regards to the plan that God has. We never have the bigger picture when it comes to God.
God expects obedience from us.
