Another year...another reflection...another wondering...
This time, through various thoughts and precepts, the scriptures mulling through my mind is:
- Rom 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Jesus died for me because "The Lord is Good..." (Ps 100v5) and it is this goodness that led me to repent and believe on Him all those many years ago.
When I repented and accepted Jesus as my Savior, I according to Gal 3v14 & 29 I have become an heir to the promises made to Abraham.
- Gal 3:14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
- Gal 3:29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Many people have said to me how they have found out that people have "held up" or "not been obedient to the Lord" and they have been through hard times because of other people’s disobedience to God’s Word.
The view I really want to draw attention to is by flipping over that exact train of thought: "If people have held up my blessing, how many other peoples blessing have I held up?"
God uses people to bless people, and I've been wondering if I have been an instrument used by darkness to not help other people – saved or unsaved. Even more so the unsaved. What greater testimony is there to unsaved people to have a Christian do something good for them instead of the usual issues we so freely dish out? We are so free to pass out judgment, criticism, feelings of unworthiness, rejecting people just because we can, talking about them in an unworthy manner (gossip)?
The question I’m going to be asking myself frequently in the coming year is:
“How many times am I stopping someone else from been SAVED by not "sharing the GOODNESS of God" with people – saved or unsaved.””
